A question for those who write...
Jun. 5th, 2012 06:55 pmSo, one of my goals (for
letthesummerin and also in general) right now is worldbuilding some of my ridiculous amount* of original worlds to the point where I can actually write proper, potentially publishable stories in them, instead of what I do write, which is... basically fanfiction for canons that do not exist outside my head.
The problem with this is that I am not 100% sure how to consciously go out and start worldbuilding; I kind of keep drawing blanks.
So come! Talk to me! Link me things, tell me about your process, about processes you've heard of, about things that work for you, that you've tried that don't, that you've heard of but never tried.... Whatever you have to say on the subject, I am interested in hearing some advice and/or thoughts.
*My view on this seems to swing rapidly between 'why do I have so many half-baked worlds' and 'why do I have so few worlds to work with', depending on the day and my current problems with writing.
