umadoshi: (Newsflesh - rewind my life (kasmir))

I've been trying for a year and a half now to figure out why there isn't a bigger fandom. There's so much in it that should be fannish catnip, and yet! I even know quite a few fannish people who've read and really enjoyed the books without it clicking with them at all on that level.

"Herding cats" seems like it's probably accurate. :/ But! It might still be fun to try!

I always tell people I feel very, very good about my choice of favorite author--I enjoy all of Seanan's books, and she's smart and funny and says intelligent things on important subjects. But Newsflesh is the one that made itself at home in my heart, and even now, I still get hit with these moments of real grief over Georgia even though I adore so much of what happens in Blackout. ;_; Georgia. (...it may be obvious that she's my favorite.)

(I also always tell people that I can't speak at all objectively about Blackout in terms of plot or anything, because the emotional narrative is just so perfect for me. I try to think about the conspiracy, and instead I discover five minutes have passed and I've mentally wandered off to think about things like how Becks' various blog posts say so much about how she and Georgia were actually pretty close.)

Hey, if you're on my journal you're gonna hear a lot about my state of mind, so might as well start out strong. I understand entirely, though. It's very easy for me to get nervous about whether or not people still want to hear about something, or from me at all.

I tend to have a lot of that. ^^; Brains can be cruel. Mine likes to be both shy and anxious. I tend not to write about it much, I guess (but I never mind reading about other people's states of mind).

... For the record I am always up to hear about Newsflesh if you want to contact me. XD

Yay! *^^*
