Your Reading:
I used the Tarot of the Trees for you, and, just as a note, your card jumped out of the deck at me after just a couple of seconds. So something was eager to talk to you.

The Hierophant: The card of belief, of strong spiritual connection. If you feel you've been lacking in your spirituality, this card might be telling you to get back in touch with your roots. If not, it might be a sign that you're on the right path, or that something particular that you've been meaning to explore more is calling to you.
The Hierophant is also a traditionalist, and occasionally inflexible in his outlook. Are you forgetting to bend, picking the wrong battles, standing your ground where you ought to yield? Be careful. Remember that the wisest people know that they have more to learn.

Your Story:

An old man lives in the highest branches of the oldest tree, and he never comes down. That's the story, anyway, the tale that kids whisper to each other at slumber parties, the threat that mothers use on their restless children: be careful, or the tree-man will come take you away; each branch on his tree, the local lore runs, is another naughty child, stolen in the night.

She barely believed it as a child, hasn't thought of it since she was a teenager; but it's hard not to believe it when he's hanging upside-down off a sturdy branch, saying her name though she never gave it to him.
